Optimization of A Thermal Coupled Flow Problem of Semiconductor Melts

In this paper we describe the formal Lagrange-technique to optimize the production process of solid state crystals from a mixture crystal melt. After the construction of the adjoint equation system of the Boussinesq equation of the crystal melt the forward and backward problems (KKT-system) are discretized by a conservative finite volume method.

Spectral characteristics of lunar impact melts and inferred mineralogy

Two suites of lunar impact melt samples have been measured in NASA’s Reflectance Experiment Laboratory (RELAB) at Brown University. Suite 1 comprises seven Apollo 17 crystalline impact melt breccias and seven quenched glass equivalents. Suite 2 is made up of 15 additional impact melt samples (from Apollo 12, 15, 16, and 17) which exhibit a range of textures and compositions related to cooling c...

Flow enhancement of electrical fluctuations in polymer solutions and melts

We show that the origin of the enhanced electrical fluctuations under flow, observed over the last is years in polymer solutions, can be traced back to a dissipative cross coupling between the strain tensor (characterizing transient polymeric networks) and electric fields. Additional experiments to further test our picture are suggested.

Articulatory Characteristics of Single and Blended Lingual Gestures

This study uses electropalatography to investigate the temporal and spatial organization of lingual consonants in English consonant clusters. Reduction differences between onsets and codas and between stops and fricatives are observed. Gestural overlap explains contact patterns in juncture geminates. INTRODUCTION AND METHOD The sequences considered are (1) juncture geminates—[d#d], [s#s], & [g#...

performance characteristics of carbon-nanofiber blended self compacting concrete

semiconducting carbon nanofibers (cnf) are prepared from three different sources, i.e., acetylene, ethanol, and cotton by the chemical vapor deposition (cvd) process. these fibers are having rich elastic, engineering and conductivity properties. fresh self-compacting concrete (scc) flows into place and around obstructions under its own weight to fill the formwork completely and self-compact, wi...
